Note:

This assay is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test for the quantification of BKV DNA in human EDTA plasma. It is intended for use to aid in the management of BKV in transplant patients.

An interpretation of "Not Detected" does not rule out the presence of inhibotors or BK virus DNA concentrations below the level of detection by the assay. care should be taken in the interpretation of any single viral load determination.

Synonyms:

BK Virus; BKVIRUS; BK Viral Load

When ordering tests for which Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement will be sought, physicians should only order tests that are medically necessary for the diagnosis or treatment of the patient. Components of the organ or disease panels may be ordered individually. The diagnostic information must substantiate all tests ordered and must be in the form of an ICD-10 code or its verbal equivalent.
